One Month, One Picture

It was great to spend 4 days camping in Joshua Tree National Park ... getting some much needed time to relax, reflect and to immerse myself in photography. This image required a long exposure (30 secs) so that I could capture the sky, the stars, the silhouettes of the Joshua Trees plus the lights from the teardrop trailer and the fire.

Hamburg has a special place in my heart ... having lived there as a family (immediately prior to moving to California) for 8 years. Each year I attend a major industry exhibition held in Hamburg and so get the opportunity to revisit some of my favorite places. One of these is the St. Nikolai Memorial. The 360° views from the spired tower across Hamburg are incredible.

I was back in Singapore for a couple of conferences ... and was pleased to be able to carve out a few hours to do a walking tour ... to get some exercise, to try and fend off the jet lag and of course to take some photos. Following 2 amazing days in Rovaniemi, Lapland I had the opportunity to visit the Finnair maintenance hangar at Helsinki airport. As a life-long aviation geek I was drawn to the sheer size of the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines mounted to one 350XWB-900 aircraft ... and took this abstract shot of the spinner cone and fan blades.

I managed to sneak in an hour or so exploring the Gardens by the Bay before leaving Singapore to head home. The Cloud Forest Conservatory is a must-visit attraction. Cloud Forest is a 35-metre tall mountain covered in lush vegetation shrouding a beautiful indoor waterfall.

Another month without any business travel ... meaning more time at home and getting back into a regular routine. On the weekend one of our favorite walks (with Tilly of course) is along the path next to the railway tracks down in San Clemente. These lifeguard stations are located at regular intervals along the length of the beach.
